Taking Photographs—Self-Timer Mode

The self-timer can be used to reduce camera shake or for self-portraits. To
use the self-timer:

Mount the camera on a tripod (recommended) or place the camera on a
stable, level surface.

Press the shooting mode dial lock release and
rotate the shooting mode dial to select (self-
timer mode).

Frame the photograph and press the shutter-
release button halfway to focus. In single-servo
autofocus ( 63), photographs can only be
taken if the in-focus () indicator appears in
the viewfinder.
