Setting the Exposure for Shooting (A, B, C, D Modes)

D (Manual) Mode
Set the shutter speed and aperture value, and shoot pictures.

Rotate the mode dial to D.

Press the multi selector K to activate the
shutter speed setting.
• The active setting switches between shutter speed and
aperture each time the multi selector K is pressed.
• At shutter speeds of 1/4 second or slower, the shutter
speed indicator turns red (A69).

Rotate the command dial to choose
the shutter speed value between
1/2000 second and eight seconds.
• When adjusting aperture or shutter speed,
the degree of deviation from the exposure
value measured by the camera is displayed
for a few seconds in the exposure display.
• The degree of deviation in the exposure
display is shown in EVs (–2 to +2 EV in
increments of 1/3 EV).
A display similar to that illustrated at right
indicates that the picture will be overexposed
by 1 EV (+1).
